Port Facilities

Reduction of Enviromental Impacts

The Onshore Port Facilities have been relocated north of Pan Am road to lessen environmental impact by:

  1. avoiding cultural House Pit sites found near the bluff over Cook Inlet;
  2. retaining a natural buffer between the facilities and Cook Inlet; and,
  3. reducing affected wetlands at the Port from 21 acres to 3 acres, an 86% reduction.

The Island Bulkhead has been relocated to the south, away from shore fishery leases and redesigned to reduce potential impacts to fish migration and sedimentation.
